CLOF is an abbreviated version of Clan Of Friends
It was agreed when clof started out that they could be an english version of the original clof,which is @clof.de
These were our german counterparts but have since split up
The clan was started in september 2004 by 3 members
They ran the clan with a basic homepage and a free invision forum,12 slot game server(unofficial) and ventrillo voice server
The 3 founders and a few members that had joined clof were from their previous clan[UKSO]
Other members that joined came via a recruiting scroll on the game server
In autumn 2005 something happened behind the scenes
This led to bulldozer and Mad leaving
Meanwhile H33t was taking a break from the game for a while
As 2 out of the 3 founding members had left H33t came back to playing the game and help run things
This didnt last too long and he decided to leave to re-join Bulldozer in another uk based clan-[LDV]
As all founding members had now left the running of the clan was passed onto the following 3 members to do whatever they wanted

Between these 3 and the rest of the current members they wanted to find ways of improving the clan
At this stage it wasnt too hard!!
Chucky took on the developing of the website and provided the funds to run the Game server and Teamspeak
The website was more of an interactive HTML page than what was previously used

The game server and Teamspeak were provided by
gamedaemons
Spider and Stalker provided the anti-cheat checks for the server,finding out all the information they could
about stopping new ways of cheating and also improving the clans image around the americas army community and the uk based clans
We had set up a donations page on the website for any clan members willing to donate to the running costs of the website,game server and Teamspeak
This proved a success and we are still using the same method today!!
Just before xmas 2005we started looking at different styles of websites
Stalker pointed me in the direction of php-nuke
We ran this in the background to see how we got on with it and made sure all the members liked it
By the time the new year came along we added Pitbull to admin status on the site
Around this time he recommended another version of php-nuke he had tried out called
nuke evolution
We have stayed with nuke evolution ever since
As this had its own integrated forum we soon started running out of space with our hosting provider
We have since upgraded 3 times as the site and forums have got bigger
Early 2006 we decided on changing our Game server / Teamspeak provider due to getting alot of lag playing the game
After recommnedations from other people and clans we switched to
gameservers
16 slot game and voice server
At the same time we also applied to
AASA and successfully got it
This enabled us to use their private banlists on the server for cheats
With a few members leaving us and even more joining us throughout 2006 we all decided to upgrade the Game server
and Teamspeak to 20 slots
We now have 23 members with most still very active
The clan is based on friendliness and fun gaming and are against all types of cheating
We regularly check our game server log files for cheating players and if we find any they get added to our private banlist
We have at this moment come to a decsion as a clan that we feel we are extremely happy with all our members and we are
big enough so we will not be recruiting any new players
